Managing research in more than one country isn’t just about language... Different cultural norms, habits, behaviours and expectations all have an impact on consumer and business decisions. This affects how clients go about researching overseas, which in turn affects what you decide to sell, where and how.
AURA’s International Special Interest Group helps client-side members commissioning and managing international research to hear about new techniques, avoid simple pitfalls and share tips and best practice on overcoming barriers.
The AURA International Special Interest Group (SIG) offers:
An opportunity to network and exchange advice, compare, learn and solve issues with other client-side AURA members working in an International context – whether you’re in 1, 50 or 150 overseas territories.
Regular presentations from agencies and clients to help members keep up with legal and cultural differences encountered when researching outside the UK.
Wide knowledge and contacts, particularly from members who regularly work globally, with networks of research specialists based outside of the UK.
Useful peer to peer info-share about overseas agencies or lead UK agencies managing multi- country studies.
Fresh perspective and real world insights for UK based businesses
If you are new to international research or would just like to get a different perspective, the group includes new as well as experienced practitioners. We’re friendly and informal.
When & Where?
We hold 2-3 separate face to face meetings in the London area (at AURA member or agency premises) spread out over the year. These focus on research and insight specifically in an international context. The meetings are open to all AURA members with an interest in international research.
You can also read and post enquiries, take part in discussions and share links to useful articles or infographics on the Members’ email Forum at any time.
There is no extra subscription to pay. It’s all part of AURA member benefits!
We have a great mix of experienced and new members. Some have an almost entire Global or International role and others do most of their work in a UK but occasionally have projects requiring some International work.International SIG meetings are smaller than the AURA Main meetings with usually no more than about 25 people attending. This makes it easier for everyone to ask questions and get involved and so grow and share their knowledge of International research and insight.
What have we covered?
In recent years we’ve covered a range of topics including:
The Delights and Challenges of Understanding Consumers in Asia
Using Storytelling to Engage Stakeholders
